Firearm manufacturers cannot be held liable for product defect claims, failure to warn, or negligence based on the absence or presence of safety features not required by federal law

Protected design features specifically include magazine disconnect mechanisms, loaded chamber indicators, authorized user recognition technology ("smart gun" technology), and external manual safeties

Liability protection applies to any design feature, functionality, safety mechanism, or performance standard beyond federal requirements for lawful manufacture, sale, import, or possession

Manufacturers remain liable for actual manufacturing defects or failures to operate consistent with the manufacturer's express warranties or representations

Amends Chapter 1 of Title 51 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated by adding new Code section 51-1-58
