Expands the definition of "law enforcement unit" under Georgia Code Section 35-8-2 to include police forces of nonprofit private colleges and universities that are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code

Expands the definition of "peace officer" to include officers of nonprofit private college and university police forces, granting them the same legal standing as state, municipal, and railroad police officers

Qualifying campus police officers must be vested with authority to enforce criminal or traffic laws, preserve public order, protect life and property, and prevent, detect, or investigate crime

Enables campus police at eligible nonprofit institutions to receive certification through the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council
