City of Metter residents would receive a $2,000.00 homestead exemption from the assessed value of their property for municipal ad valorem taxes, effective January 1, 2027

Homeowners must file an initial application with the city, after which the exemption automatically renews annually as long as they continue to occupy the residence as their homestead

The exemption applies only to City of Metter municipal taxes and does not affect state, county, or school district ad valorem taxes; it stacks with any other applicable municipal homestead exemptions

Voters in the City of Metter must approve the exemption in a referendum scheduled for the Tuesday after the first Monday in November 2026, with election costs paid by the city

If voters reject the measure or the election is not properly conducted, the Act automatically repeals on January 1 following the election date
