GA SB575

Creates a $4,000 homestead exemption from City of Metter municipal ad valorem taxes for residents aged 65 or older with combined household income not exceeding $10,000

Exemption applies only to city municipal taxes, not state, county, or school district ad valorem taxes, and is in addition to any other existing homestead exemptions

Requires a one-time application with the city governing authority; exemption automatically renews annually as long as the resident remains eligible and occupies the homestead

Effective for taxable years beginning January 1, 2027, contingent on voter approval in a referendum scheduled for November 2027

Requires two-thirds majority approval in both the Georgia Senate and House of Representatives before becoming law
