Redefines "school zone" based on Department of Transportation/Public Safety master state orders or local ordinances rather than the previous 1,000-foot boundary standard, and limits school zone speed limit periods to no more than one hour, twice daily

Requires warning signs (minimum 24x30 inches) displaying school zone speed limits and automated enforcement device notices to be placed one-half mile before school zones, plus a speed display device showing approaching vehicles their actual speed

Restricts automated traffic enforcement (speed camera) citations to violations exceeding 10 mph over the posted school zone speed limit, only when the school zone speed limit is actively in effect

Exempts school zones from the standard 10 mph-over speed detection threshold only when using non-automated devices operated by on-site law enforcement officers, not automated cameras

Authorizes district attorneys, solicitors-general, and prosecuting attorneys to enforce civil monetary penalties for school zone speeding violations captured by recorded images; effective July 1, 2025, with existing permits given until January 1, 2026 to comply
