GA SB99

Creates a new statutory definition of "law enforcement officer" in Georgia Code Section 16-1-3, expanding beyond traditional peace officers to include multiple categories of law enforcement personnel

Includes state or federal officers who assist Georgia agencies during Governor-declared emergencies or disasters under Code Section 38-3-51

Allows newly appointed police chiefs and law enforcement department heads to serve before completing required training under Code Sections 35-8-20 or 35-8-20.1

Recognizes out-of-state certified law enforcement officers employed by Georgia agencies who haven't yet completed Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training requirements, provided their home state certification remains in good standing

Authorizes federal law enforcement officers to act as law enforcement in Georgia when serving at the request of Georgia peace officers or to prevent imminent death or bodily harm
