Georgia Senate commends Mayor Jimmy Daniels Jr., current Mayor of the City of Oglethorpe in Macon County, serving his first term as the municipality's elected executive

Mayor Daniels is a 2008 Macon County High School graduate who earned degrees from Reedley Community College (2010), Alabama State University (2013), and a master's from Georgia College and State University (2021)

Founded two youth mentorship programs: the E.P.I.C. Mentorship Program (Encouraging, Positive, Inspiring Careers) and the G.E.N.T.S. Club (Growing, Evolving, Nurturing Teenagers) focused on academic excellence and leadership development

Works as a middle school teacher serving Exceptional Student Education students and serves as varsity girls head basketball coach, varsity football coach, and middle school athletic director at Macon County High School

Received multiple awards including NAACP "Making a Difference" Award (2019-2020), 40 Under 40 Rural Leader recognition (2022-2023), and Georgia Good Samaritan Honoree Award (2023-2024)
