Georgia Senate Resolution 1052 honors the life and memory of Don Michael "Mike" Cottrell (January 3, 1953 – February 25, 2026), a Dahlonega, Georgia resident and U.S. Air Force Reserves veteran

Cottrell purchased Cottrell, Incorporated in 1987, expanding the Gainesville-based car-hauling truck transport company through competitor acquisition and initiating international sales in 1999

Served in civic roles including chairman of the Lumpkin County Development Authority and was appointed to the State Board of Economic Development in 2008 by Governor Sonny Perdue

Made transformational contributions to the University of North Georgia, resulting in the naming of the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and established the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The Secretary of the Senate is directed to provide a copy of the resolution to Cottrell's family, including his wife Lynn and five children
