Georgia Senate recognizes and commends the Atlanta Botanical Garden on its 50th anniversary, having been incorporated in 1976

The garden has grown from a grassroots vision in 1973 to a 30-acre urban oasis in Midtown Atlanta, with major additions including the Children's Garden (1999), Fuqua Orchid Center (2002), and the 600-foot Kendeda Canopy Walk

A second campus opened in Gainesville in 2015, extending the garden's regional mission

The garden operates the Southeastern Center for Conservation and is a founding member of the Georgia Plant Conservation Alliance to protect native plant species

Awards received include the Iseli Award, a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service grant for habitat restoration, and the American Public Gardens Association's Award for Garden Excellence
