Georgia Senate Resolution 1074 honors the life and memory of David Apple Jr., MD, an 89-year-old Atlanta resident who was married for 63 years and had four children and 12 grandchildren

Dr. Apple co-founded the Shepherd Center in 1975 with Alana, Harold, and James Shepherd and served as its medical director for 31 years, treating patients with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, and other neurological conditions

He established the Shepherd Center's Recreation Therapy Program, helping thousands of patients find purpose after injury or illness

Dr. Apple was a nationally recognized expert in rehabilitative medicine who led research, helped found professional organizations and journals, and mentored generations of clinicians and scientists

The Secretary of the Senate is directed to provide a copy of the resolution to Dr. Apple's family
