February 2, 2026 is designated as Clark Atlanta University Day at the Georgia state capitol

Clark Atlanta University was established in 1988 through the consolidation of Atlanta University (founded 1865) and Clark College (founded 1869), becoming the nation's first four-year liberal arts college primarily serving African-American students

The university serves 3,920 students annually across 40 academic programs and generates $541 million in combined gross economic impact to Georgia, including $400 million in direct impact and 3,282 jobs

CAU received a record 52,212 applications for the class of 2029 and has launched a 10-year, $250 million comprehensive fundraising campaign called "Lifting Lives and Leading the Way"

The resolution commends President George T. French, Jr., Ph.D., identified as the longest serving HBCU president in the country, under whose leadership the university received $53 million in gifts from MacKenzie Scott and $16.5 million from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation
