Georgia Senate Resolution 678 recognizes and commends Dr. Mauricio Gonzalez, Ph.D., upon his retirement for his career in higher education spanning 41 years

Dr. Gonzalez served 18 years as Vice President of Student and International Affairs at the University of North Florida and served in the United States Army from 1966-1969

Earned degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington (undergraduate), University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico (master's), and Florida State University (Ph.D.)

Received numerous honors including the Robert Arleigh White Award for Art Advocacy, Senior Fulbright Research Scholar Award, and membership in Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars

Served on multiple boards including the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, Jacksonville's Hispanic Council, and Girl Scouts of America, and as a Field Reviewer at the Institute of Museum Services in Washington, D.C.
