Georgia Senate formally commends the 22 Community Service Boards (CSBs) operating across the state for their contributions to behavioral health and developmental disability services

CSBs are public corporations established under O.C.G.A. § 37-2-6 to provide services for mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases, with boards appointed by county governing authorities

CSBs serve as part of Georgia's Public Safety Net, primarily treating eligible individuals who are uninsured or have limited means, as well as Medicaid recipients

Nearly 2 million Georgians suffered from mental illness or addictive diseases in the past year, over 320,000 experienced serious mental illness, and more than 145,000 adults have intellectual or developmental disabilities

The Georgia Association of Community Service Boards (GACSB), headquartered in Villa Rica, provides unified policy and legislative advocacy for all 22 CSBs at state and national levels
