McDonough was founded in 1823 and named for Naval Officer Commodore Thomas Macdonough

The city originated as a relay station on the New York City to New Orleans stagecoach line and currently has a population nearing 30,000 in Henry County

Acknowledges the contributions of the mayor, city council, city staff, volunteers, business leaders, and residents to the city's growth and prosperity

Directs the Secretary of the Senate to provide a copy of the resolution to the City of McDonough
