HI HB1132

Authorizes law enforcement officers of the Department of Public Safety and conservation and resources enforcement officers of the Department of Land and Natural Resources to use electric guns and related equipment in addition to county police departments.

Requires electric guns to remain in custody and control of authorized law enforcement officers at all times.

Mandates that both departments maintain records of every electric gun usage in a similar manner as firearm discharge records and submit annual reports to the legislature 20 days before each session begins.

Requires law enforcement officers authorized to use electric guns to complete training from the manufacturer or an approved training program before deploying the equipment in public.

Requires the Department of Land and Natural Resources conservation and resources enforcement program to pursue accreditation or recognition from a nationally recognized law enforcement accreditation program before purchasing electric guns and training officers in their use.
