HB1460 Summary

• Directs the Department of Defense Civil Defense Division to conduct a feasibility study on using U.S. Navy facilities at Lualualei, Oahu as a civilian emergency shelter.

• Study must examine necessary agreements with the U.S. Navy, facility sufficiency and capacity, logistical challenges for civilian access during emergencies, costs involved, and other pertinent issues.

• Civil Defense Division shall submit findings and any proposed legislation to the legislature no later than twenty days before the 2010 regular session convenes.

• Act takes effect upon approval.
