HB 1963 Summary

• Creates a new "archaeological permit special account" within the Hawaii historic preservation special fund to receive and manage archaeological permit fees.

• Directs the board of land and natural resources to increase archaeological permit fees from $50 to a minimum of $1,000.

• Requires permit fee revenues to first cover administrative and operational costs of the archaeological permit system, with remaining funds expended as provided in section 6E-16(b).

• Authorizes the department to adopt rules under chapter 91 to implement the special account provisions.

• Effective date: July 1, 2010.
