HB 1968 Summary

• Adds new section to Chapter 6E, Hawaii Revised Statutes to establish a 10-year expiration period for approvals or acceptances of archaeological inventory surveys, mitigation plans, preservation plans, interpretive plans, and other related studies by the state historic preservation officer.

• Requires that if any action requiring approval of these plans or studies is needed 10 years after the original approval date, the state historic preservation officer must require preparation of a new plan or study or an update to the original plan for re-approval.

• Authorizes the Board of Land and Natural Resources to adopt rules under Chapter 91 to implement the new provisions.

• Takes effect upon approval.
