HB 2337 Summary

• Repeals Part II of Chapter 206E, Hawaii Revised Statutes, which established the Kakaako community development district under the Hawaii Community Development Authority.

• Transfers planning and zoning authority for Kakaako to the City and County of Honolulu, along with capital improvement projects related to county roadways, sewer, water, parks, and infrastructure systems.

• Transfers title to all Kakaako lands and submerged lands at Kewalo Basin to the Department of Land and Natural Resources and Department of Transportation.

• Transfers all rights, powers, functions, duties, appropriations, records, equipment, and employees of the Hawaii Community Development Authority to the receiving agencies without loss of employee benefits or tenure.

• Takes effect July 1, 2012, to allow time for budgetary adjustments, rule changes, and transition actions.
