HI HB2674

Removes the requirement that Island Burial Councils include representatives of development and large property owner interests.

Requires regional representatives on councils to be members or descendants of indigenous Polynesians who lived in the Hawaiian Islands prior to 1778.

Maintains council membership at a minimum of 9 and maximum of 15 members, with at least one representative from each geographic region of the island.

Requires the Department of Land and Natural Resources to consult with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and appropriate Hawaiian organizations when developing appointment lists for council members.

Takes effect upon approval; does not apply to appointments made before the effective date.
