Temporary restraining orders remain in effect for up to 90 days from issuance or until a protective order is personally served on the respondent, whichever occurs first.

Protective orders granted orally in court without the respondent present become effective upon service to the respondent, rather than at the time of the hearing.

Protective orders granted orally with all parties present remain effective from the date stated on the record by the court.

Courts must reduce all oral protective orders to writing and issue them immediately.
