Allow the State Fire Council to employ an administrator and administrative assistant with specified responsibilities to improve operational capacity.

Clarify that the State Fire Council's budget is included within the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations budget.

State Fire Council currently relies on county fire department personnel for duties including amending state fire code, administering federal grants, and managing the Reduced Ignition Propensity Cigarette Program.

Council also participates in state building code adoption, coordinates statewide fire training and data collection, and engages with national fire organizations.

Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs recommends passage and referral to the Committee on Ways and Means.
