Urges the University of Hawaii at Manoa Chancellor to reconsider reconsolidating the School of Travel Industry Management with the Shidler College of Business Administration.

Notes that the School of Travel Industry Management has full accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA), which mandates the program maintain "sufficient operational independence" to achieve its objectives.

Contends the School of Travel Industry Management is the most cost-efficient unit at the university, covering its own operating expenses with net tuition revenues, and therefore reconsolidation would not result in cost savings.

States the school educates the third-largest student body among the nine schools at the university and produces the third-largest number of graduates per year, qualifying as having adequate critical mass.

Requests the Chancellor report to the Legislature by twenty days before the 2011 Regular Session on the criteria used to determine whether reconsolidation should proceed and how those criteria were applied.
