Supports the phase out of production and importation of decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE) and all polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in the United States

Acknowledges that decaBDE and PBDE flame retardants have been used in electronics, wire insulation, textiles, automobiles, and aircraft where fire risk is significant and have saved millions of lives

Notes that when these flame retardants burn, they emit chemicals that may cause cancer, and reasonable alternatives to their use now exist

Recognizes efforts by the Environmental Protection Agency and industry leaders to reduce citizen exposure to these substances

Committee on Energy and Environment recommends adoption of the concurrent resolution
