Requests the Maui County Department of Transportation to launch a speeding awareness program targeting visitors who drive motor vehicles on Maui.

Program should educate drivers about the dangers of speeding and emphasize the importance of adhering to speed limits under Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 291C-102.

Maui County Department of Transportation is requested to collaborate with rental car companies and the Car and Truck Rental and Leasing Association in developing the program.

Maui County Department of Transportation must report to the Legislature on the speeding awareness program no later than twenty days before the Regular Session of 2012 convenes.

Certified copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the State Director of Transportation, Maui County officials, and the Car and Truck Rental and Leasing Association.
