H.C.R. NO. 329 - Summary

• Urges the State Historic Preservation Division to explore using ground penetrating x-ray and geographical information system (GIS) technology to determine feasibility for identifying and mapping artifacts without excavation.

• Requests the State Historic Preservation Division report on costs associated with acquiring, maintaining, and using ground penetrating x-ray devices and GIS technology.

• Requests the State Historic Preservation Division assess whether the archaeological equipment is feasible based on technology costs versus benefits to the State in identifying, locating, and preserving historic artifacts and human remains.

• Requires the State Historic Preservation Division to submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2011.

• Directs transmission of certified copies of the resolution to the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources and the State Historic Preservation Officer.
