Urges Oahu Publications, Inc. (OPI) to continue publication of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin or provide sufficient time to find a qualified buyer for the newspaper.

Addresses concern that OPI is not offering a viable commercial entity for sale because Midweek (which contains the newest printing press) is not being sold along with the Star-Bulletin.

Notes that at least 120 days is needed for a legitimate sale to occur.

States that the Department of Justice is examining potential economic and advertising restraint of trade issues that could result if the Star-Bulletin ceases publication and Midweek and Honolulu Advertiser are combined under a single corporate entity.

Finds that the Honolulu Star-Bulletin is an essential source for public discussion and commentary vital to a democratic society and recommends adoption of the resolution.
