Requests the Department of Land and Natural Resources to resolve an ongoing dispute with Haleakala Ranch regarding public access to the 8.5-mile state-owned Haleakala Trail on Maui.

The trail stretches from Saint Joseph's Church through Haleakala Ranch to the Haleakala National Park crater rim, and is the only state-owned trail not currently open to the public.

Haleakala Ranch claims ownership of the portion of the trail crossing its property, preventing public access despite the trail being improved as a bridle trail by the territorial government in 1905.

Department of Land and Natural Resources and Attorney General are requested to resolve the title claim dispute and make the trail accessible to the public.

Requires a progress report to the Legislature by 20 days before the 2011 Regular Session and a final report within 60 days of resolution.
