Hawaii Public Housing Authority requested to amend rules allowing shelter occupants facing eviction to remain in the shelter while appealing their eviction.

Shelter occupants must be provided 10 days from eviction notice to request continued residency pending appeal.

Exceptions to continued residency allowed for occupants posing safety threats, those owing undisputed past-due program fees, and those admitting to three or more house rule violations.

Resolution requires constitutional due process protections including informal hearing before uninvolved authority, Hawaii Public Housing Authority hearing, and state circuit court appeal rights.

Certified copies to be transmitted to the Governor and Executive Director of the Hawaii Public Housing Authority.
