Urges the provision of orientation and additional training for state agency case workers to better address issues faced by grandparents raising grandchildren.

Addresses findings from the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Task Force showing frustration between DHS case workers and grandparents, including lack of understanding of case worker roles and poor communication regarding grandparent-grandchild relationships.

Identifies specific concerns: grandparents feeling intimidated and afraid of losing grandchildren, lack of respect shown by DHS case workers, and absence of emotional support.

Committee on Human Services recommends that additional training is critical to alleviate frustration on behalf of both grandparents and DHS case workers.

Referred to Committee on Finance for further consideration.
