SB 180 Summary

• Repeals the after-the-fact payroll system that was implemented in 1998 and establishes new pay day schedules on the 1st and 15th of each month for public employees.

• Maintains existing provisions that substitute teachers, part-time hourly rated teachers of adult and evening classes, and other part-time, intermittent, or casual employees may be paid once a month.

• Provides that if the 1st or 15th falls on a state holiday, Saturday, or Sunday, pay day shall be the immediately preceding weekday.

• Requires implementation of pay day adjustments to commence on July 1, 2009.

• Mandates that any pay being withheld under the after-the-fact payroll system be distributed to employees by December 31, 2009, or within two weeks of termination, whichever occurs first.
