Appropriates $2,963,411 from general revenues for fiscal year 2010-2011 to provide additional funding for the kupuna care program, in addition to the $4,854,350 executive office on aging base budget.

Kupuna care is a home- and community-based program established in 1999 to provide affordable long-term care services as an alternative to hospitals, nursing homes, and other traditional facilities.

Program provides nine core services: adult day care, attendant care, case management, chore services, homemaker services, personal care, assisted transportation, kupuna care transportation, and home delivered meals.

In 2008, the program served thousands of elderly Hawaiians, including 3,277 home meal deliveries, 1,744 elders receiving case management, 874 using personal care, and 597 using homemaker services.

Effective date is July 1, 2010.
