HI SB2570

Amends Article X, Section 2 of the Hawaii Constitution to change the Board of Education from an elected body to an appointed body.

Authorizes the Governor to nominate Board of Education members, subject to Senate approval, rather than having members elected by qualified voters from two at-large school board districts.

Removes the nonvoting public high school student member position previously selected by the Hawaii State Student Council.

Requires the Legislature to establish by law the transition process from an elected board to an appointed board.

Requires voter approval through a constitutional amendment ballot question before taking effect.
