Department of Education must give reasonable consideration to making closed public school facilities available to charter schools during the school-closing process.

Department must notify the charter school review panel of any public school being considered for closure so charter schools can submit applications to use the facilities.

Charter school review panel must solicit applications from interested charter schools, fully consider submissions, provide written responses, and compile a prioritized list for the department's final determination.

If no charter school requests the facilities or none are deemed appropriate, the department must consider making the facilities available for other educational purposes and adopt administrative rules establishing priority lists and evaluation criteria.

Act takes effect upon approval.
