Department of Land and Natural Resources is requested to study state land assets and natural resources to determine their utilization and potential for revenue generation.

Study must include an identification and inventory of state land assets and natural resources, and projections of the real cost of maintaining these resources.

Study must provide recommendations for allocating operating and capital funds to sustain state resources, including using government assets to support land and natural resources management.

Study must examine requiring private development or businesses that benefit from public natural or cultural resources to dedicate financial or other support toward maintenance costs, such as renewable energy lessees or water sales contributing to watershed partnerships.

Department of Land and Natural Resources must report findings and legislative recommendations no later than twenty days prior to the 2011 Regular Session.
