Healthcare Association of Hawaii is requested to convene a health care reform task force chaired by the Chairpersons of the Senate and House Committees on Health to evaluate methods to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and cost of Hawaii's health care system.

Task force directed to address reducing medical errors, increasing patient safety, eliminating doctor shortages, and evaluating the role of the legal system in compensating victims of medical errors.

Task force membership includes representatives from the Legislature, Department of Health, Department of Attorney General, University of Hawaii law and medical schools, Hawaii Insurance Commissioner, Hawaii Medical Association, Hawaii Association for Justice, health care providers, malpractice insurers, consumer advocates, and other designated stakeholders.

Healthcare Association of Hawaii to provide administrative support for the task force.

Task force required to submit report of findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the 2012 Regular Session.
