S.R. NO. 108 - Summary

• Requests establishment of the Pharmacist-Administered Vaccination Task Force to study feasibility of lowering the age for pharmacy-administered vaccinations from current levels to nine years old.

• Task force to research potential benefits and drawbacks, most effective means to lower age restrictions, additional education or certification requirements for pharmacists, and vaccination age restriction schemas used in other states.

• Task force membership includes the Director of Health (chair), Board of Pharmacy member, Hawaii Pharmacists Association member, University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Pharmacy dean, pharmacists from chain and independent pharmacies, and American Academy of Pediatrics Hawaii Chapter member.

• Task force members serve without compensation and the task force is administratively situated in the Department of Health with Legislative Reference Bureau assistance.

• Task force must submit findings, recommendations, and proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2011 Regular Session and ceases to exist after June 30, 2011.
