Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) is requested to study the feasibility of establishing a "Tour de Hawaii" bike race with segments on all major populated islands.

HTA must review models of other states with similar bike racing events, including years established, annual expenditures, economic benefits, and tourism increases.

HTA must examine infrastructure requirements, estimated costs, funding sources, and best practices from other states and jurisdictions.

HTA is required to report findings and recommendations to the Legislature, including benefits, costs, and implementation timeline, no later than 20 days before the 2011 Regular Session convenes.

Resolution cites Tour de Georgia's $186 million economic impact in six years and Tour of Missouri's $30 million impact in 2008 as models for potential Hawaii benefits.
