Urges Hawaii's Congressional Delegation to request that the United States Department of Agriculture adopt nutritional guidelines from the Institute of Medicine for school meals programs.

References the Institute of Medicine's "School Meals: Building Blocks for Healthy Children" report, which provides recommendations to revise nutrition and food standards for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.

Acknowledges that the National School Lunch Program serves approximately 5.1 billion lunches annually in 99% of U.S. public schools at a federal cost of $8.7 billion (fiscal year 2007).

Calls for acceleration of the Nutrition Education and Training Program and Team Nutrition initiative to improve the nutritional quality of all school meals and foster healthy eating habits in children.

Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to Hawaii's Congressional Delegation.
