H.B. 1203 - Physician Workforce Assessment

• Removes the $150,000 annual expenditure cap on the John A. Burns school of medicine special fund for physician workforce assessment activities.

• Expands the use of the $60 physician license renewal assessment fee to support collaboration with residency programs and the Hawaii medical board on six specified issues: reimbursement adequacy, license portability, telemedicine, continuing education, medical home models, and communications technology.

• Requires the John A. Burns school of medicine to submit annual reports to the legislature on assessment and planning activities, including findings, policy recommendations, and expenditures.

• Repeals the June 30, 2012 sunset date for certain sections of Act 18, Special Session Laws of Hawaii 2009.

• Takes effect July 1, 2030.
