Requires the state historic preservation officer to review current archaeological technology, specifically ground penetrating x-ray devices and geographic information systems that can identify and map artifacts without excavation.

Directs the officer to determine the costs of acquiring, maintaining, and using ground penetrating x-ray equipment and geographic information systems for archaeological purposes.

Mandates assessment of whether using archaeological technology is feasible based on costs and benefits to the historic preservation division in preserving historical bones and artifacts.

Requires the state historic preservation officer to submit findings and recommendations to the legislature no later than twenty days before the 2012 regular session convenes.

Takes effect upon approval.
