HB 506 Summary

• Director of Transportation shall conduct a feasibility study on an alternative access road built mauka (inland) of Farrington Highway, beginning at Lualualei Naval Magazine Road, to provide access to and from the leeward coast of Oahu.

• Study must include cost-benefit analysis, evaluation of intended and unintended effects, construction timetable, identification of alternative routes, and review of previous studies on leeward coast access.

• Director shall submit written report of findings and recommendations, including proposed legislation if necessary, to the legislature no later than twenty days before the 2012 regular session convenes.

• Appropriates $250,000 from general revenues for fiscal year 2011-2012 to fund the feasibility study.

• Act takes effect July 1, 2011.
