Appropriates $120,000 for fiscal year 2011-2012 and $120,000 for fiscal year 2012-2013 from general revenues to the Department of Education for suicide prevention services.

Funds will restore one peer education program resource teacher position and one full-time clerk-typist position to support suicide prevention services within the Department of Education.

Identifies that suicide is the second leading cause of death among Hawaii youth ages 15-24, with high school students attempting suicide at more than double the national average rate.

Notes that budget cuts previously eliminated positions that supported suicide prevention community networking in schools.
