HB 718 Summary

• Authorizes the Department of Human Services to develop and administer a housing assistance program for former foster youth who have attained eighteen years of age.

• Program shall maintain a registry of eligible former foster youth, notify them of available services, provide information on housing options including public housing and rental assistance programs, and assist with documentation and counseling.

• Department must consult and coordinate with the Hawaii Public Housing Authority and Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation in implementing the program.

• Appropriates $5,000,000 from general revenues for fiscal year 2011-2012 to develop and administer the housing assistance program.

• Effective date of July 1, 2050.
