Requires health care facilities certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to report health care-associated infection data to the CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network as specified in federal rules.

Mandates that health care facilities authorize the CDC to allow the Hawaii Department of Health to access reported infection data from the National Healthcare Safety Network.

Allows the Department of Health to adopt rules requiring facilities to report multidrug-resistant health care-associated infections, with the first year serving as a pilot program that will not be publicly disclosed.

Protects patient confidentiality by prohibiting disclosure of patient-level data while allowing aggregate public reports that may identify individual health care facilities and use CDC/CMS methodologies.

Requires the Department of Health to submit annual public reports on health care-associated infections beginning June 30, 2013, and to report to the legislature by twenty days prior to the 2012 regular session.
