Director of Health requested to convene a Legislative Noise Pollution Task Force to review best practices from other states in reducing noise pollution.

Task Force composition includes representatives from Department of Health, Honolulu Police Department, Honolulu Liquor Commission, Public Utilities Commission, eight Oahu neighborhood boards, and legislators from urban communities with high noise pollution complaints.

Task Force directed to focus on noise pollution from motorcycle/motor scooter/moped mufflers, trash disposal vehicles, and stereo or audio equipment in passenger vehicles.

Legislative Reference Bureau to assist Task Force with drafting legislation based on findings and recommendations regarding best practices in reducing noise pollution.

Task Force required to report findings and recommendations to Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the 2012 Regular Session convening.
