HI HCR143

Directs county prosecutors, Department of Health, law enforcement, courts, and other criminal justice agencies to cooperate in ensuring crime victims, their families, and witnesses receive all rights under Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 801D.

Requires notification to victims and witnesses of significant events including when a perpetrator is deemed unfit to stand trial, transferred to custody (state hospital, psychiatric institution, or other facility), experiences change in custodial status, or is discharged, released, or absent without authority.

Mandates that victims and witnesses receive timely information about major case developments and the final disposition of cases upon written request, as established under HRS Section 801D-4.

Requires certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to all county prosecutors, police chiefs, the Hawaii Supreme Court Chief Justice, and the Administrative Director of the Courts for distribution to relevant criminal justice and social service agencies.
