Request the Board of Veterinary Examiners to convene a task force examining the feasibility of establishing a continuing education requirement for veterinarians in Hawaii.

Task force membership to include the Executive Officer of the Board of Veterinary Examiners (serving as Chairperson), the Chairperson of the Hawaiian Humane Society Board of Directors, the President of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association, and other appropriate veterinary community members.

Task force directed to consider the amount and type of continuing education required, monitoring and compliance mechanisms, potential exemptions, and solutions to challenges posed by Hawaii's geographic location.

Task force required to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the 2012 Regular Session.

Resolution notes Hawaii is one of only a few states without a continuing education requirement for veterinarians and that ongoing education helps practitioners stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine.
