Requests establishment of a task force by the State Librarian composed of representatives from public and private organizations, philanthropic entities, governmental and nongovernmental organizations, and cultural and geographic communities across all islands.

Task force directed to identify library services needed in underserved communities and develop resources for facilities, collections, staffing, hours of operation, and services.

Task force directed to seek community funding sources to offset loss of Department of Education funding to community and school libraries.

Task force required to submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2012 Regular Session convenes.

Task force designated to serve as permanent, ad hoc resource assisting the State Librarian in developing and updating the Hawaii State Public Library System long-range master plan.
