Attorney General's Office is requested to convene a task force to study DNA collection policies for felony arrestees in other jurisdictions.

Task force shall examine implementation issues including expungement procedures, sample maintenance, collection timing and personnel, cost concerns, kit acquisition, and staffing requirements.

Task force must report to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2012 Regular Session with recommendations and appropriate legislation.

Resolution cites 19 states with DNA collection laws for felony arrests (Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia).

Certified copies to be sent to the Attorney General, police chiefs of each county, and prosecuting attorneys of each county.
